The Colorful Hopes Association was founded in 2017 in the Sur district of Diyarbakır, based on children’s rights and freedoms. Since its establishment, the association has been working to provide equal opportunities to disadvantaged children and to contribute to their psychological and social empowerment.
Purpose: Equality, support and safe spaces
One of the primary goals of the association is to repair the psychological damage in the lives of children, especially those living in conflict-affected regions such as Sur.
Civan Aytaç, an association employee, summarizes the work done for Şoperêç as follows:
“We are trying to break the psychological damage. We are trying to ensure that children reconnect with play, art and love.”
What Does the Colorful Hopes Association Do?
The association offers support to children and their families with a multifaceted approach:
Psychosocial support activities
Art and game workshops
Storytelling and creative drama activities
Educational support programs
Rights-based awareness activities
The aim of these programs is not only temporary support; it is to ensure that children discover their own potential in the long term.
Children’s rights-based approach
All activities of the Colorful Hopes Association are carried out within the framework of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is emphasized that children have the right not only to protection but also to participation, development and freedom of expression.
Reducing the impact of social traumas
The traumatic experiences experienced by children growing up in conflict zones, especially in Sur, directly affect their emotional development. The association tries to create environments where they can reconnect by opening safe spaces for these children.
A colorful hope is possible
The Colorful Hopes Association is not only a social support institution; it is also a center of hope. It re-opens a place in children’s lives with play, art, interest and trust.
Civan Aytaç and his teammates are trying to build a future for children even in the most difficult neighborhoods of Diyarbakır: “So that no child is left alone.”
