Melayê Cizîrî was born in Cizre in the 16th and 17th centuries and is one of the most important poets and philosophers of Kurdish literature. Standing out with his deep mysticism and philosophical side, Cizîrî not only wrote poetry but also influenced great thinkers such as Feqiyê Teyran and Ehmedê Xanî.
Cizîrî’s Divan: Wisdom, Love and Truth
Melayê Cizîrî’s divan is a comprehensive work consisting of approximately two thousand couplets. Each couplet carries both emotional and philosophical depth. The poems he wrote on love, the search for truth, the universe, humanity and existence still hold an important place in the cultural memory of Kurdish society today.
Cizîrî’s love poems are not only literary but also a spiritual journey. For this reason, he has been called the “Pir of Love.” His poems have been read, listened to and passed on in every Kurdish home for centuries.
Melayê Cizîrî is being brought to the stage in Diyarbakır
Diyarbakır-based Mordem Sanat aims to bring this great thinker and poet to the stage and convey his philosophy to a wider audience. The play “Nobedarê Dilên Hêsîr” (Guardian of Captive Hearts) centers on Cizîrî’s thought system on love, consciousness and existence.
Barış Işık: A drop from an ocean
Mordem Art Director Barış Işık evaluated this work for Şoperêç as follows:
