Saltık, who is Turkish, started learning Kurdish after settling in Diyarbakır in order to communicate better with her surroundings and to be more involved in the culture.
Saltık, who became able to speak Kurdish in just 6 months, is appreciated by both those around her and the customers of the market.

The Jiyan Neighborhood Market, established in Diyarbakır in 2009, was opened with the aim of providing economic freedom to women.
Nurdan Saltık was one of the first women to work as a tradesman in this market.
