Mem û Zîn is one of the most poignant love stories of Kurdish folk literature, rumored to have taken place in Cizre in the 1450s. This tragic love story was written by Ahmadê Xanî in the late 17th century and brought into written literature.

In memory of Egîdê Cimo: Miri of the Pipe was commemorated in Diyarbakır

Serê Salê: Kurds celebrate New Year according to the Solar Calendar

According to the Kurdish culture, the new year is celebrated on January 13th every year according to the Solar Calendar. This special day is commonly known as “Serê Salê” (New Year’s Eve – New Year’s End). Serê Salê, which is traditionally greeted with rituals such as going door to door, storytelling, songs and gifts, means a day full of joy and sharing, especially for children.
