Erdal Tüt: A sculptor who shapes his culture with stone, wood and soil
April 22, 2025A floral art journey from Silvan to Suriçi
Bahoz Damlayici is a young artist who was born and raised in the Silvan district of Diyarbakır and who transforms a life intertwined with nature into art. Damlayici, who has had a special interest in flowers since her childhood, turns the flowers she collects into artistic compositions by drying them between the pages of books.
Art inspired by nature
Bahoz Damlayici’s art journey begins with her passion for collecting flowers. Over time, she not only collects these flowers but also transforms them into aesthetic forms with plant printing and natural collage techniques. She develops a unique artistic language by reflecting the dried flowers on paintings with her friend Ayşe Suna.
A breath in Suriçi
The duo keeps this special art alive in the Şewl û Xaraw Workshop they opened in the historical Suriçi district of Diyarbakır. The workshop is both a production area and an inspiring space that tells visitors about the connection established with nature.
Combining art with nature
Damlayic’s and Suna’s works not only offer a visual aesthetic, but also represent love of nature, patience and memory. Bringing a new breath to the Diyarbakır handicraft scene, this flower-based approach builds a modern bridge between sustainability and tradition.
