Harun’s musical journey: From Kurdish Rock to the present
23.04.2025Kasım Taşdoğan is a musician who has been making music in cafes in İzmir for many years, but has moved his stage to the city’s poor neighborhoods and streets after the pandemic. Taşdoğan, who carries his music from city to city, has also met with his audience in different geographies such as Istanbul, Diyarbakır and Mardin.
A journey that changed with the pandemic
While the restrictions during the pandemic took the stage away from many musicians, Kasım Taşdoğan chose to bring his music to the streets and the public. Not only the physical spaces, but also the relationship he established with music began to transform in this process. Now he prefers to be in direct contact with more people and to produce sincere music.
“I want to remain an amateur,” says Taşdoğan, and this sentence summarizes his perspective on music: Sincere, simple and direct.
Traditional melodies, an interpretive heart
Kasım Taşdoğan is an artist who adds his own interpretation to the traditional forms of Kurdish music and also produces original songs. While blending melodies with modern tones, he also includes his own lyrics and compositions in his repertoire.
Intercity music bridge
This journey, starting from Izmir and extending to Istanbul, Diyarbakir and Mardin, is not just a series of concerts; it is also a process of cultural sharing and witnessing. Taşdoğan carries the texture of different cities into his music; each performance is shaped by the spirit of that moment and that place.
Simple is beautiful
Kasım Taşdoğan follows the path of a music that comes from the heart, instead of pursuing fame or big stages. There is no ostentation in his music, but there is a lot of emotion.
